Music and the arts abound in the Coloma-Lotus Valley! On weekends, and many weekdays, musicians play at our eateries including the Sierra Nevada House, the River Shack, and Marco’s Cafe. Many of our wineries, including David Girard Vineyards, and campgrounds and B & Bs, like the American River Resort, have also have live music through the fall.
Music, several types of dance, and yoga are all performed and taught at Lotus D’Or, our local art studio. Our visual artists teach and exhibit in our towns: Kelly Ahola teaches mosaic making on August 2 & 3 in Coloma, and she and several other artists participate in El Dorado County’s Open Studios tours in September 27 and 28. For those who wish to make music, August 10-14 are this year’s dates for the American River Acoustic Music Camp (early bird registration is extended to July 22). It’s open to individuals and families — folks of all ages and musical ability — who want to play music in community.
September 19-21 is a music-listening extravaganza in Coloma and Lotus: the Second Annual American River Music Festival. It features a day of rafting and music, naturalist-led hikes and music, musicians teaching in our schools, and of course a wide range of performers on the main stage and in many smaller ones in our campgrounds.
Come for the music and arts, enjoy the food, play by the river, and stay overnight in our bed-and-breakfasts and campgrounds!
