Celebrate TrailFest and National Get Outdoors Day in Coloma!

I think nearly everyday in the Coloma-Lotus Valley is a reminder to get outdoors and play, but this Sunday is actually National GET OUTDOORS Day! To honor National Get Outdoors Day, a local company, Mother Lode River Center & Trips is hosting a fun and free family friendly event at their Riverside Campground from 10-4. They will open their challenge course, climbing wall and zip-line and offer workshops and activities focused on gardening and sustainability, all to promote and emphasize the importance of health & outdoor recreation for youth & their families. Come one, come all…and check out their website for more info: malode.com

The fun doesn’t stop there! Last weekend was the official kick off to the LoCol Farmer’s Market held at the Gold Trail Grange #452. It will be every Sunday from 10-2 through the Fall. I stopped in last weekend and left with a bag full of delicious, fresh fruits, veggies, herbs and eggs, as well as a few things I didn’t know I even needed but was happy to find, such as tamales, jewelry, and handmade buttons, soaps & more! Check out their facebook page to see who will be here this week so you can shop LoCol! LoCol Farmers’ Market Facebook

The Gold Discovery Museum at Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park is pleased to announce that they are now open everyday from 10-4. The Park hours are 8-7.

Rumor has it that Hart 2 Hart Vineyards, formerly Venezio Vineyards & Winery, will be opening this Thursday for tasting. This is their grand opening weekend! Stop by when you get done whitewater rafting the South Fork American River or after one of these other great events to say HI and sip some vino! http://hart2hartvineyards.com/

Also, it is the 10th Annual American River TrailFest this Sunday! Yippee! A favorite local event for TEN years now! Featuring dinner, local beer & wine, silent & live auctions, massage, an Interactive kids’ zone AND live entertainment by Nancy Cassidy, Tiffani Shiro & Hugh Hoeger, Arann Harris & The Farm Band and The Rusty Buckets! Fun for all ages! All the proceeds go to the American River Conservancy for continued maintenance and support for our local trails.  Check out the website for ticket info. and more details. http://www.arconservancy.org/site/c.psKZL3PFLrF/b.8664113/k.5FAD/TrailFest_2013.htm
